Oh come on now....

If I can suffer through 1984, you can certainly muster up the energy to slog through 1986?

That said, I would offer that taking 16 months to do so, and methodically writing up observations of EVERY SINGLE SHOW is not a good investment of time and energy respired oxygen.

My M.O. is to jump around in my Dead listening . Usually do a tour and the odd lot shows to round it out . For instance I ham just doing the Oakland shows, and the first tour in 86 , Feb 8-April 4 .With the 79 stuff I went a little longer to get all the K&D shows . I appreciate the work and perseverance that went into your 84 expedition . Gave an interesting overview of a neglected year not possible otherwise .

Even in a "down" year, there are usually just enough quality performances to keep you going. Usually.

Kind of like golf. You can really suck and be ready to give up on the whole damn, overpriced endeavour; but then you hit that "one" shot and suddenly you are once again throwing good money after bad, convinced that the next great shot is coming around the corner.

Tiger Woods may be a little like Jerry. Once the hands-down best, he then suffered some physical set-backs and struggled to regain his old form, but despite that people still crowd the course hoping to seem him hit some of those same old shots, even though we're pretty sure that will never happen. Hmmmm....wonder if he likes Twinkies?
